Building a Bridge across Generations

Our mission is to create a vibrant, inclusive space that honors Wetipquin’s heritage while paving the way for future growth. Restoring this historic Rosenwald School goes beyond revitalizing a building.  It’s a tribute to the visionary partnership between philanthropist Julius Rosenwald and African American educator and activist Booker T. Washington. Beginning in 1912, Rosenwald and Washington worked together to establish thousands of schools across 15 states, bringing essential educational opportunities to Black communities during a time of segregation and limited resources. By restoring this Rosenwald School, we’re not only preserving an invaluable piece of history; but also, continuing their legacy of education, unity, and hope for generations to come.
