The Barclay Family

John Wesley Barclay was born in January 1863 in Nanticoke, Somerset County, Maryland, and died on July 7, 1927, in Wetipquin, Wicomico County, Maryland. He was buried in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Wetipquin. His parents were Stephen and Matilda Nutter Barclay of Nanticoke. On December 22, 1896, he married Julia Ellen Moore. She was born in December 1879 in Wetipquin, Wicomico County, Maryland, and died on March 3, 1974. She was also buried in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Wetipquin. Her parents were James H. Moore and Sarah E. Raleigh Moore of Wetipquin. They lived in Nanticoke shortly after they were married. On February 21, 1917, John Wesley Barclay purchased property from Ida Mae Bedsworth of Wetipquin, and the family moved to Wetipquin.

Children:

• Noah B. Barclay was born in February 1892 in Nanticoke, Wicomico County, Maryland, and died on December 25, 1975. He was buried in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Wetipquin. He inherited the family property from his parents. On December 27, 1922, he married Minnie Ethel Church in Wetipquin. She was born in October 1897 in Quantico, Wicomico County, Maryland. Her parents were Daniel Church and Mary Jones Church. Minnie Ethel resides in Quantico with her niece, Mattie Rider Dutton of Quantico, who they reared from a little child when her mother died. They also reared her sister, Annie Mai Children, who died at a young age.
