The Conway Farm

The Conway Farm, originally built on 360 acres of land by Alexander Donoho, a member of the Maryland Senate and a large slave owner, is a historic homestead. The main building measured thirty-six by twenty-seven feet, forming an "L" in construction, with a six-foot-wide fireplace that had a crane for wash days and big dinners. Outside, a big brick well, only twenty feet deep, lasted for two centuries.

Captain Donoho's daughter married Tubman Conway, bringing the Donoho property into the Conway family, where it remains a part of their heritage. The farm features three separate cemeteries for the Donoho, Conway, and Bailey/Allen families, the latter being descendants of slaves on the Conway farm. The property is located between the Nanticoke River and Royal Oak Road.
